Meaning under the Decree

The sign marks an area, typically part of a municipality, in which the warning, prohibition, restriction or order shown on the sign or signs applies, unless local traffic regulation within the area provides otherwise. A restriction concerning only certain vehicles, certain times and the like is shown in the lower part of the sign by suitable wording or a symbol. The sign may be square. Where a mandatory or prohibitory sign is shown on it, this zone sign has the character of a mandatory or prohibitory sign.
